Sending a ride-on mower – transport for lawn tractors and garden machinery

You send a ride-on mower by direct transport with a tail lift, because ride-on mowers are rollable but bulky, non-stackable and carry fuel and oil: the core factor is lashing at the axles and frame – never at the steering wheel, mower deck or body panels.

Heavy-haulage low-loader with an oversized boiler load

A ride-on mower fits in no parcel and is too bulky for many groupage networks: rollable but not stackable, with a fuel and oil filling and a sensitive bonnet. Speed Logistics sends ride-on mowers, lawn tractors and garden tractors as direct transport door to door – from the single machine for the specialist dealer to the palletised series delivery to the wholesaler.

You receive a fixed-price offer within a few hours, and our dispatch team is personally reachable 24/7. Especially in the season from March to May, when dealers and hire firms need machines at short notice, we schedule fixed collection and delivery dates instead of vague time windows. Collection is where the machine stands: at the warehouse, in the workshop or at the end customer – nationwide and throughout Europe.

Which machines we transport

  • Lawn tractors and ride-on mowers of all makes, with or without a grass collector
  • Garden tractors and compact tractors with attachments such as a mower deck, sweeper brush or snow blade
  • Professional machines for landscaping and municipalities – zero-turn mowers, mulchers, small tractors
  • New machines ex works or from the warehouse palletised and film-wrapped for the trade

From the Sprinter with tail lift for a single machine to the curtainside truck for dealer supply with several machines, we choose the vehicle to match the shipment.

Loading and securing of ride-on mowers

Ride-on mowers are loaded via the tail lift or a ramp and lashed in the vehicle at the axles or the frame – never at the steering wheel, mower deck or body panels. Parking brake applied, ignition key removed, grass collector and loose attachments secured separately: this way the machine arrives without scratches. For shipping, the tank should be run down as far as possible; an operationally required residual amount is uncritical in road transport. New machines we take over on the manufacturer's pallet in the original packaging. Used machines without their own packaging travel unpackaged but fully lashed; on request a cover tarpaulin protects the bonnet and seat from dirt and weather. You receive a photo of the loading directly after departure on request.

Process and costs of ride-on mower shipping

You give us the model or dimensions and weight (typically 150–350 kg), the collection and delivery address and the desired date. On this basis you receive a binding fixed price without hidden fees. The cost depends on distance, vehicle size and deadline pressure – a single collection from a private seller with tail-lift delivery is calculated differently from a palletised dealer delivery. After the order, a firmly assigned vehicle collects the machine and delivers it directly without transhipment. For dealers with regular demand we set up fixed collection days, so sold machines go into delivery without individual coordination.

Seasonal logistics for dealers and hire firms

At the start of the season every day counts: we run replenishment direct transports from the central warehouse to the specialist dealer, collect demonstration and hire machines and bring repair machines to the service point and back to the customer. We also handle Europe-wide procurement – such as a used machine from the Netherlands or Austria – door to door, with photo documentation on receipt on request. Outside the season, too, the dispatch team stays available around the clock – for example for winter storage, exhibition machines or the return of leasing machines at the end of the season.

Frequently asked questions: Sending a Ride-On Mower

How is a ride-on mower loaded without a ramp or forklift?

We use vehicles with a tail lift: the ride-on mower is rolled onto the lift, raised and lashed in the load space at the frame and axles. Neither at the sender nor at the consignee are a ramp, forklift or helpers needed. The machine simply needs to be rollable and the parking brake functional.

Does the tank have to be empty for shipping?

For road transport an operationally required residual amount in the tank is permitted – unlike with parcel or air-freight shipping. We nevertheless recommend running the tank down as far as possible and removing the ignition key. Disconnect the battery and secure loose parts such as the grass collector separately, and the machine is ready to ship.

What does it cost to send a ride-on mower nationwide in Germany?

The price depends on distance, machine size and deadline. For a single ride-on mower within Germany with tail-lift collection and delivery, the guide value is usually in the mid three-figure range, depending on lane and lead time. You receive a binding fixed price from us within a few hours.

Do you also transport several ride-on mowers at once to dealers?

Yes. For specialist dealers, manufacturers and hire firms we run consolidated direct transports with several machines – palletised or rollable and lashed – from the central warehouse to one or more branches. Especially for the spring season from March to May, we schedule fixed delivery dates so sold machines are at the customer on time.

Can I have a used ride-on mower collected from abroad?

Yes. We collect purchased used machines Europe-wide – for example from the Netherlands, Austria or France – and deliver them door to door to you. On request the driver documents the condition on receipt with photos. For purchases outside the EU we additionally handle the complete customs clearance.

How quickly is a ride-on mower transport possible in peak season?

As direct transport we usually schedule collection within 24 to 48 hours, and with express the same day too. As the vehicle drives straight through without transhipment, delivery within Germany is usually possible the next day. Our dispatch team is available around the clock and confirms fixed dates for you.

Common mistakes when sending a ride-on mower – what should I watch out for?

It is wrongly lashed at the steering wheel, mower deck or body panels instead of at the axles and frame – which causes damage. Likewise, the grass collector and loose attachments are left unsecured. Before shipping, the parking brake should be applied, the ignition key removed and the battery disconnected; the tank run down as far as possible, with an operationally required residual amount being uncritical in road transport.

Why is a ride-on mower loaded by tail lift rather than a ramp?

With a vehicle with a tail lift, the ride-on mower is rolled onto the lift, raised and lashed in the load space at the frame and axles. Neither at the sender nor at the consignee are a ramp, forklift or helpers needed – the machine simply needs to be rollable and the parking brake functional. This also makes collections from a private seller or end customer straightforward.
