Construction Machinery Transport – Excavators, Rollers and Cranes Safely on the Low Loader

Speed Logistics transports excavators, wheel loaders, rollers and cranes on low loaders and semi-low loaders as a direct transport – driving up ramps or by crane, secured form-fit at the lashing points and, where dimensions or weight demand it, with permit and BF3 escort.

High-bay contract logistics warehouse with pallets

Whether a crawler excavator to the next site, a wheel loader to the buyer or a roller back to the rental yard: construction machinery needs specialised transport equipment and – depending on dimensions and weight – permits and escort. Speed Logistics arranges construction machinery transports on low loaders and semi-low loaders for construction firms, rental companies, dealers and auction buyers, as a direct transport from sender to job site.

You receive a fixed-price quote within a few hours; our dispatch team is available around the clock and keeps you up to date on the journey via live GPS tracking – important when your crew is waiting for the machine on site.

Which machines we transport

  • Crawler and mobile excavators, wheel loaders, rollers, graders and dozers
  • Cranes, aerial work platforms and telehandlers – dismantled or over-height where required
  • Attachments, buckets, hammers and spare parts as part loads or express
  • Mini excavators and compact machines from a 3.5 t van with ramps

Low loader, permit, BF3 – all from a single source

Many construction machines exceed the permitted dimensions for unrestricted transport. Based on your machine data we check whether a permit under Section 29/46 StVO (German road traffic regulations) is required, apply for it in every affected federal state and, where conditions demand it, provide BF3 escort vehicles or coordinate the police escort. The route is checked for bridge loads, clearance heights and site access, and the permit lead time is transparently factored into the delivery date.

Safe loading and load securing

Construction machines either drive up ramps themselves or are loaded by crane – we clarify in advance which option is possible at the loading and unloading points. On the low loader we secure with lashing chains at the designated lashing points, chocks and anti-slip mats; moving parts such as booms and buckets are secured separately. That way the machine arrives ready for use, without damage to hydraulics or running gear.

Machinery export: Türkiye, North Africa, Central Asia

Used construction machinery is in demand internationally. We take excavators, wheel loaders and cranes to non-EU countries such as Türkiye, to North Africa, the Middle East, West Africa and Central Asia – including full customs clearance: export declaration, T1/T2 transit procedure, import in the destination country. For temporary deployments, such as machines on overseas construction sites, we use the ATA Carnet for duty-free return. Delivery terms from EXW to DDP.

How to book your construction machinery transport

You provide the machine type, operating weight, dimensions (including attachment), loading and unloading points and the requested date. We select the right vehicle, clarify permit requirements, calculate the fixed price including CMR insurance and report the documented proof of delivery after unloading.

For dealers, rental companies and auction buyers

Construction machinery frequently changes hands – via dealers, rental fleets or auction platforms. We handle the complete processing of such transfers: collection from the seller with a documented handover condition, transport with live GPS tracking, delivery with proof of delivery and photo documentation. Especially with auction purchases, where buyer and machine have never met, this creates certainty for both sides.

Our multilingual 24/7 dispatch team (German, English, Russian, Turkish) makes export business with international buyers easier. Every journey runs with a fixed price and CMR insurance; for high-value machines we arrange extended value cover for the full machine value on request. That keeps resale calculable – from the bid to the handover at the job site.

Frequently asked questions: Construction Machinery

What does a construction machinery transport cost?

The price depends on machine weight, dimensions, distance and the need for permits and escort – a mini excavator regionally costs far less than a 40 t crawler excavator across Germany. You receive a transparent fixed price from us including loading and CMR insurance, usually within a few hours of your enquiry.

When does a construction machinery transport need a permit?

As soon as the vehicle combination exceeds the permitted limits – generally from 40 t gross weight, over 2.55 m width (loads usually up to 3 m require little permitting), 4 m height or the permitted lengths – a permit under Section 29/46 StVO is required. We check this against your machine data and apply for everything required.

How is an excavator secured on the low loader?

With lashing chains at the manufacturer's designated lashing points, chocks and anti-slip mats; boom, bucket and other moving parts are secured and lowered separately. Before departure the driver checks the securing in full – so the machine arrives without damage to hydraulics or running gear.

Does Speed Logistics also transport mini excavators and compact machines?

Yes. Compact machines up to around 2.5 t we already move with 3.5 t vans plus a trailer with loading ramps – faster to arrange and cheaper than a low loader. Larger machines we dispatch on semi-low loaders or low loaders to suit weight and height. We clarify ramp loading in advance based on the conditions at the loading and unloading points.

Does Speed Logistics also export construction machinery to non-EU countries?

Yes. We take excavators, wheel loaders and cranes to Türkiye, North Africa, the Middle East, West Africa and Central Asia – including full customs clearance with export declaration and transit procedure. For temporary deployments abroad we use the ATA Carnet so the machine can return duty-free.

How quickly is a low loader available for a machine move?

Permit-free transports we often dispatch within 24 to 48 hours, and depending on region and vehicle availability even the same day. Transports requiring a permit additionally need the authorities' processing time – we give you a realistic, binding date before you place the order. The permit lead time depends on the route and the number of federal states involved.

What should you pay particular attention to with construction machinery transport?

Key points are securing moving parts such as booms and buckets, clarifying the loading method in advance – driving up a ramp or by crane – and a documented handover condition, especially with dealer and auction purchases. Speed Logistics secures with lashing chains at the designated lashing points, chocks and anti-slip mats and clarifies the loading and unloading situation in advance.

Why does Speed Logistics document the condition with photos for auction and dealer purchases?

Construction machinery frequently changes owner via dealers, rental fleets or auction platforms – buyer and machine have never met. Collection with a documented handover condition and photo documentation on delivery gives both sides certainty about the condition and makes resale calculable.
