Project logistics covers the logistical planning and execution of complex undertakings – from machine relocations to plant deliveries and construction site supply. Typical features are several coordinated transports, tight time windows, oversized or particularly valuable goods, and often a destination outside the EU where customs clearance is part of the critical path.
Speed Logistics plans and manages such projects as a single contact: we coordinate vehicles from the panel van to the 40-t articulated truck, schedule partial deliveries to your project plan and, for non-EU destinations – such as Türkiye, North Africa, the Gulf region or Central Asia – handle the complete customs clearance from EXW to DDP. Our dispatch team is personally available 24/7 throughout the entire project term.
Typical Applications of Project Logistics
- Machine and plant relocations: collection accompanying disassembly, sequenced delivery at the new site
- Construction site logistics: on-time supply of construction and assembly sites, even without a ramp or fixed infrastructure
- Industrial projects in non-EU countries: export shipments with complete customs documentation and border clearance
- Trade-fair and event logistics: fixed set-up and dismantling windows, where a late delivery is not an option
- High-value single items: premium handling for sensitive components such as control cabinets, test benches or server installations
What these projects have in common: there is no standard process to fall back on. Success comes from clean preparation, realistic time estimates and a dispatcher who knows the overall picture – not just the individual run. A single delayed transport can hold up entire trades, which is why we treat every partial delivery as a time-critical commitment.
Process: From Project Analysis to the Last Partial Delivery
Every project is unique – so our work begins with detailed advance planning. We record the technical data of the goods (dimensions, weights, centres of gravity, lifting points), check time windows, access routes and unloading situations, and clarify possible official requirements along the route. From this emerges a transport concept with a clear schedule, defined responsibilities and reserves for the case that a partial delivery is postponed. Where needed, we inspect loading and unloading points in advance to realistically assess bottlenecks, ground conditions and manoeuvring space.
During execution, a dedicated dispatcher coordinates all parties – sender, consignee, assembly teams and, for non-EU projects, the customs offices. Early coordination with all parties is the most important success factor: it prevents idle time for expensive cranes and assembly crews waiting for material.
Non-EU Projects: Customs as Part of the Project Plan
For projects outside the EU, customs clearance co-determines the deadline. We build export declarations, transit procedures and import clearance in the destination country into the project plan from the outset – including the question of which documents are needed per partial delivery and how border crossings are to be timed. This way the plant does not come to a standstill at the border while the assembly team waits at the destination. Temporary exports too – for example tools and equipment that return after the project ends – are planned with the appropriate customs procedure, so that no unnecessary duties arise on re-importation.
What Does Project Logistics Cost?
We calculate project transports individually according to effort: planning work, the number and type of vehicles, route analysis, customs and, where applicable, official costs, as well as the timing sequence. Fixed-price quotes per project phase have proven effective – this keeps your budgets predictable, even if individual deadlines shift. Talk to us early: the sooner we join the planning, the more optimisation potential we can unlock for you. After project completion, on request you receive an analysis of all transports as a basis for calculating your next undertaking.
