Montenegro is an EU accession candidate but a non-EU country: every shipment needs complete export and import handling. Anyone setting off with incomplete papers quickly loses one to two days at the border. Customs clearance Montenegro: documents and procedures
For export from the EU we prepare the export declaration and open the transit procedure (T1) for the stretch to the Montenegrin border. Import clearance there is carried out by the recipient or their customs agent, with whom we agree the timing and documents in advance. Usually required are the commercial invoice, packing list and – importantly – the preferential proof EUR.1 or a declaration of origin: Montenegro is linked to the EU through the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, so goods of preferential EU origin are imported duty-reduced or duty-free.
