Road freight refers to the transport of goods by land – within Europe almost always by truck. It is the most important and most flexible mode of transport for industry and trade: no other means of transport reaches loading and unloading points as directly, from the factory ramp to the construction site with no connection to rail or port.
Speed Logistics runs road freight across all of Europe and beyond into non-EU countries – to Türkiye, North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf region, West Africa and Central Asia, including full customs clearance. Our dispatch team is personally available 24/7, and you receive your fixed-price quote within a few hours.
Scope of Services: Road Freight from Panel Van to Articulated Truck
We provide the right vehicle for every shipment size – as a full truckload (FTL) with exclusive load space, or as a part load (LTL) when your shipment does not fill the truck:
- Panel vans and vans (up to 3.5 t) for urgent small shipments and direct transports
- 7.5- and 12-tonne trucks for medium volumes, often with a tail lift for locations without a ramp
- 40-t articulated truck with up to 13.6 m loading length for full truckloads and heavy industrial goods
- Direct transport without transhipment: your goods stay on the same vehicle from sender to consignee – this minimises transport damage and transit time
- Premium handling for sensitive and high-value goods such as machinery, electronics or trade-fair equipment
Within Europe we run all common lanes – from Benelux and France through Italy and the Iberian Peninsula to Poland, South-Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Load securing is carried out to suit the goods with lashing straps, edge protectors and anti-slip mats, so that the cargo arrives just as it was loaded.
Process: From Enquiry to Delivery
You send us the collection and delivery address, weight, dimensions and number of pallets, along with the desired time window. Precise loading information is the most important lever for a smooth process – it avoids waiting times at the ramp and additional charges. Within a few hours you receive a fixed-price quote; after approval we dispatch the vehicle and confirm the loading dates. For regular shipments we store your master data, so follow-up orders are triggered with a short message.
During transport, your shipment stays in view via our dispatch team; in the event of delays – for example at borders or due to traffic conditions – we inform you proactively instead of waiting for you to ask. We document the delivery via the CMR consignment note.
Road Freight to Non-EU Countries: Customs Is Part of the Deal
For international road transports beyond the EU border, customs documents and delivery notes are essential. We handle the complete process door-to-door: export declaration, transit procedure, border clearance and import clearance in the destination country – from EXW to DDP, depending on which delivery term you have agreed with your customer. This gives you one contact for transport and customs instead of several providers who pass responsibility back and forth. On the main corridors – for example towards Türkiye via the Balkans – our dispatchers know the border crossings and their peak times and plan realistic buffers.
What Does Road Freight Cost?
Costs depend on the route, loading volume, weight, delivery time and additional services such as a tail lift or notification. Part loads are cheaper than full truckloads because several shippers share the load space – in return, the transit time of an FTL direct transport is shorter and can be planned more precisely. We do not quote flat prices but calculate your lane individually: send us the key data and you will receive a no-obligation fixed-price quote within a few hours.
