Freight Forwarding for the Food Industry – Temperature-Controlled Transports with a Seamless Cold Chain

Speed Logistics drives fresh goods, frozen food and ambient ranges temperature-controlled as a direct transport without transhipment – at +2 to +7 °C, at −18 °C and colder or ambient-controlled – with ATP vehicles, seamless temperature recording and HACCP-compliant processes.

Heavy-haul low loader with an oversized boiler load

With food, the cold chain decides marketability and shelf life: even a brief temperature deviation can devalue a whole batch. Speed Logistics drives fresh goods, frozen food and ambient ranges as a temperature-controlled direct transport without transhipment – from the production plant to the retailer's central warehouse, to the large-scale caterer or processor, across Europe and to non-EU countries including customs clearance. Every journey runs without transhipment – the most common weak point of broken cold chains is thus eliminated by design.

You receive your fixed-price quote within a few hours, including CMR insurance and live GPS tracking. Our dispatch team works according to the HACCP principles, knows the delivery conditions of food retail and is available 24/7 – even when best-before-critical goods have to go out at short notice or an early-morning delivery needs confirming.

Temperature ranges and product ranges

  • Fresh logistics at +2 to +7 °C for dairy products, meat and sausage products, convenience
  • Frozen transports at −18 °C and colder for frozen baked goods, vegetables and ready meals
  • Temperature-controlled ambient range – such as chocolate and confectionery, protected from heat and frost
  • Canned goods, drinks and raw materials as a full or part load in the curtainsider truck
  • Express direct runs for best-before-critical goods and production bottlenecks

Whether a palletised full truckload, part load or urgent small quantity in the refrigerated van: we provide the vehicle to suit the quantity and temperature range – from the 3.5-tonner to the articulated truck.

Seamless cold chain – documented and verifiable

We use refrigerated vehicles to ATP standard whose units are set to the agreed target temperature and monitored throughout the journey. The temperature recording documents the profile from loading to unloading; on request you receive the temperature record with the shipment. Pre-cooling of the load space, closed doors until the ramp is cleared and checked previous loads are part of the standard process – with us the cold chain does not break at the loading ramp.

Multi-temperature shipments – such as fresh and ambient goods for the same recipient – we plan with separate vehicles or coordinated tours so that each product group stays within its target range. That avoids compromise temperatures that in the end suit no product group.

HACCP-compliant processes in food transport

Hygiene begins before loading: clean, odour-neutral and dry load spaces, documented cleaning, clear separation of incompatible product groups. Our processes follow the HACCP principles and the industry-standard requirements as also assessed in IFS Logistics audits. Delivery notes, batch and temperature records stay complete with the shipment – important for your traceability.

If a deviation occurs, you hear it from us first: temperature alarm, delay or damage we report actively with all the facts – so that your quality assurance and your customer can decide immediately instead of complaining later.

On-time delivery to retail and to non-EU countries

Food retail central warehouses work with fixed time windows and strict goods-inwards checks. We book the slots, provide punctually and hand over signed – delays we report before they become a problem. For exports, such as shelf-stable food to the Gulf region or North Africa, we additionally handle the complete customs clearance from EXW to DDP including the goods-accompanying documents. Costs depend on the temperature range, quantity, lane and time window. Send us your shipment data – the binding fixed-price quote follows within a few hours – including temperature control, time-window booking and all required records.

Frequently asked questions: Food Industry

Which temperature ranges does Speed Logistics cover?

We drive fresh logistics at +2 to +7 °C, frozen transports at −18 °C and colder as well as a temperature-controlled ambient range such as confectionery that has to be protected from heat and frost. The target temperature is agreed before loading, set and monitored throughout the journey.

How is the cold chain verified during transport?

The refrigeration units record the temperature profile from loading to unloading; on request you receive the temperature record with the shipment. In addition, pre-cooling of the load space, closed doors until the ramp is cleared and the direct transport without transhipment are standard – so the chain stays seamless.

Are your processes HACCP-compliant?

Yes. We work according to the HACCP principles: clean, odour-neutral load spaces with documented cleaning, checked previous loads, separation of incompatible product groups and complete goods-accompanying papers. The processes correspond to the industry-standard requirements as also assessed in IFS Logistics audits. On request we provide you with the records for your own audit documentation.

How quickly do you drive best-before-critical goods?

For best-before-critical batches we often dispatch express direct runs the same day – without transhipment, with continuous temperature control. Our dispatch team is available 24/7; you usually receive the fixed-price quote within a few hours, so the goods arrive at the recipient with maximum remaining shelf life. Weekend and night runs are also regularly possible for this.

Do you supply the central warehouses of food retail?

Yes. We book the delivery time windows, observe the goods-inwards requirements on pallets, temperature and papers and provide punctually for the slot. We report impending delays proactively – so you avoid rejected deliveries, demurrage and trouble with the retail partner. We hand over temperature and pallet records signed with the shipment.

Do you also export food to countries outside the EU?

Yes. Shelf-stable and temperature-controlled food we drive as direct transports to Türkiye, North Africa and the Gulf region, among others – including full customs clearance from EXW to DDP. Required goods-accompanying documents we coordinate with you before departure so that border clearance runs quickly.

Which mistakes devalue a food batch in transport?

Even a brief temperature deviation can devalue a batch – critical are a cold chain interrupted at transhipment or at the ramp, multi-temperature shipments without separation and a critical previous load. Speed Logistics drives without transhipment, pre-cools, keeps doors closed until the ramp is cleared and checks previous loads – the cold chain does not break at the loading ramp.

Why does Speed Logistics plan multi-temperature shipments with separate vehicles?

When fresh and ambient ranges come together for the same recipient, a compromise temperature would suit no product group. We therefore plan such shipments with separate vehicles or coordinated tours, so that each product group stays within its target range and arrives marketable.
