Paper is heavy, pressure-sensitive and prone to moisture – three properties that make transport demanding. Speed Logistics drives for paper mills, wholesalers, printers and converters: paper reels, pulp bales, sheet paper on pallets and printing paper for time-bound production. As a freight forwarder with 24/7 dispatch we deliver across Europe and to non-EU countries – as a direct transport without transhipment, with a fixed-price quote within a few hours.
In paper logistics in particular, the execution decides: a tipped or dented reel is unusable for rotary printing. We therefore plan load securing, weight distribution and equipment individually for each shipment.
Scope of service for paper manufacturers and converters
- Transport of standing and lying paper reels with edge protection and anti-slip mats
- Pulp and waste-paper transports as a full or part load
- Sheet paper and cardboard on pallets for printers and converters
- Express replenishment in case of production bottlenecks, at night and at weekends too
Load securing and weight: what matters with paper reels
Paper reels quickly weigh several tonnes each – the vehicle payload, the load distribution over the axles and the securing against rolling all have to be exactly right. We dispatch vehicles with sufficient payload up to the 40 t articulated truck, use stanchions, chocks, tensioning straps and anti-slip mats in accordance with VDI 2700 and ensure dry, clean load spaces. Moisture-sensitive goods travel in closed or tarpaulin-secured bodies; for sensitive printing papers we document the condition at pickup and delivery.
We also know the handover points: reel reception with chain conveyors, ramps with height restrictions or outdoor storage where unloading is done sideways with a forklift. Whether a sliding tarpaulin for side loading, a box body for weather-critical goods or a vehicle with a tail lift for palletised sheet paper – we coordinate the body with sender and recipient in advance so that nothing stalls at the ramp.
On-time delivery for printers: just in time to the machine
Newspaper and commercial printers work with fixed press dates – the paper has to be at the reel reception before production starts. Our dispatch team plans backwards from the delivery date, takes driving times and ramp windows into account and keeps you up to date on the shipment status by GPS tracking. For short-notice needs we organise an express direct transport: collection from the plant or warehouse mostly the same day.
For recurring needs – such as a printer's weekly replenishment or fixed lanes between paper mill and converter – we set up plannable services with fixed slots and calculable conditions. You only report quantity and date, our dispatch team does the rest. Every shipment runs with CMR insurance; for high-value specialty papers we arrange extended value cover on request. Damage or deviations we document immediately with a photo and a note on the consignment note so that your complaint is solid – transparency is part of the service for us, just like punctuality.
International paper transports including customs
Pulp and paper move in international supply chains – such as from Scandinavian or Eastern European mills to German converters or from German manufacturers to Türkiye and North Africa. Speed Logistics handles the complete customs clearance from EXW to DDP, including export accompanying documents and preference evidence. That way you have one contact for transport and customs – and a fixed-price quote that covers both.
