Using volume optimally: vehicle choice and stowage planning
Packaging materials fill a vehicle long before the payload is reached. We therefore calculate consistently by loading metres and cubic metres: from the van for urgent small quantities through curtainsider trucks with a double-deck option to the 40 t articulated truck. Stackable goods we secure double-decked, pressure-sensitive cartons drive on top or in separate stowage zones. That way the cost per pallet drops – and the goods arrive undamaged.
A practical example: displays and folding cartons often weigh under 200 kg per pallet – an articulated truck is then full with 33 pallet spaces even though barely seven tonnes are loaded. With double-deck loading the pallet spaces almost double without straining the goods.
