In shipbuilding, dock occupancy and outfitting dates set the pace: if a section, an engine or a crane component is not at the shipyard on time, it costs dock lay time. Speed Logistics runs transports for the maritime and shipbuilding industry to the exact deadline – from an express spare-part delivery in a sprinter van to a 200 t module on a low-loader.
Shipyards, suppliers and shipping companies receive from us a personal 24/7 dispatch team, a fixed-price quote within a few hours and, on request, complete handling including heavy-haulage permits and customs – for shipyard projects in Türkiye or spare parts heading for the Gulf region, for example.
Transport for shipyards, suppliers and shipping companies
Typical shipments in shipbuilding logistics:
- Ship modules, sections and steel components
- Machinery, engines, gearboxes and propellers
- Cranes, winches and deck equipment
- Electrical, navigation and outfitting components as an express shipment
Every transport runs with live GPS tracking and CMR insurance. Sensitive components such as machined shafts or control technology receive premium handling with adapted load securing and edge protection.
Heavy loads up to 200 t: low-loader, permit, escort
For oversized sections and heavy machinery we deploy low-loaders and special semi-trailers up to 200 t. Speed Logistics applies for the required special permits, organises BF3/BF4 escort vehicles or police escort and checks the route in advance for bridge loads, clearance heights and bottlenecks. That way the promised delivery date at the shipyard or quay is reliable – and your crane window is met.
Direct port and shipyard delivery
We deliver directly to the shipyard, quay or terminal – including in Hamburg and Bremerhaven. We build the ports' and shipyard grounds' registration procedures, access rules and slot requirements into the transport; for loading onto the ship we coordinate the delivery SOLAS-compliant with the shipper, including correct weight data for the Verified Gross Mass. This saves you waiting times at the gate and queries at the terminal.
Refit, outfitting and ongoing shipyard operations
Besides newbuild projects, we supply ongoing shipyard operations: outfitting components for final fit-out at the pier, spare parts for dockings and refits, tools and consumables for assembly crews. Such shipments are rarely oversized, but almost always time-critical – a missing component holds up an entire trade. We run them as a direct transport without transloading, meet the shipyard's registration deadlines and deliver to the agreed handover point on the grounds. For urgent needs – a ship with a fixed departure date, for example – we combine a night drive and the earliest gate slot so the part can go on board at the start of the shift. For suppliers with recurring deliveries to the same shipyard, we set up fixed processes: the same drivers, familiar access routes, well-rehearsed documentation.
International shipyard projects and customs clearance
Newbuild and refit projects increasingly run through shipyards outside the EU, such as in Türkiye. Speed Logistics handles the complete customs clearance from EXW to DDP: export declaration, T1 transit procedure and coordination with the destination customs office. Urgent spare parts for ships in dock or with a fixed departure date are moved as a direct transport without transloading – overnight on request, coordinated with the agent and shipyard. That way even very short-notice shipments reach the ship before it leaves the berth – fully documented, insured and with a binding time commitment.
