Special Run & Direct Transport – straight to the destination without transhipment

A special run is the fastest road transport solution: one vehicle exclusively, without a hub, without transhipment, directly from collection to destination address. Same-day depending on distance, on long-haul with a two-driver crew for virtually non-stop driving – a higher price than groupage, but maximum speed and zero transhipment risk.

Container port with loading cranes from a bird's-eye view

A special run is the fastest transport solution in road transport: one vehicle is provided exclusively for your shipment and runs without a hub, without transhipment and without co-loading directly from the collection address to the recipient. Same-day delivery is possible depending on distance; on long routes we deploy a two-driver crew so that the truck runs virtually non-stop within the driving-time rules.

Speed Logistics dispatches special runs around the clock – from the sprinter van with 3.5 t for urgent single pallets to the 40-t articulated truck for complete production lines. The price is naturally above groupage or part load, but in return you get maximum speed, a fixed time window and zero transhipment risk for sensitive goods.

When is a special run worthwhile?

  • Line stoppage looms: spare parts or raw material must reach production today
  • Fixed deadlines: fair build-up, machine commissioning or contractually agreed delivery windows
  • Sensitive or high-value goods: no transhipment means no additional handling risks
  • Confidential shipments: exclusive load space, no co-loading of third-party goods
  • Recalls and complaints: defective goods must go back to the plant immediately or replacements to the customer

Express freight overnight and same-day

Two scenarios shape the daily routine: in same-day transport the driver collects within a few hours and delivers the same day – realistic for distances up to a few hundred kilometres. In the overnight special run, loading takes place in the evening and delivery the next morning, for example express freight to Lyon overnight or the spare-part delivery from Berlin to the plant in Milan. With a two-driver crew even 1,000 km and more are feasible in one go. Tell us the latest delivery time – we calculate backwards and name the necessary loading date.

Process: from enquiry to delivery

You call or send the key data – collection location, destination, packing pieces, latest delivery deadline. Our dispatch team checks vehicle availability and gives you, within a few hours (in acute cases considerably faster), a fixed price with a binding time window. After release the vehicle goes straight to loading; you receive status updates from loading to the signed delivery, traceable by GPS tracking. As non-binding orientation, special runs move, depending on distance, vehicle size and urgency, often within a guide value of around €500–4,000. Short-notice changes too – for example a new unloading point during the trip – dispatch implements directly with the driver.

Vehicles and crew

For every shipment size the right vehicle is ready: sprinter vans and box vans for express freight up to around 1.5 t, curtainside and box vehicles in the 7.5-t and 12-t segment as well as articulated trucks up to 40 t. On long-haul routes we dispatch a two-driver crew so that driving-time breaks do not endanger the deadline – compliant with the EU social rules and the Mobility Package. The dispatch team works multilingually and remains your direct line to the vehicle throughout the trip.

Direct transports internationally and to non-EU countries

Special runs do not end at the EU border: we run direct transports to Türkiye, North Africa or the Middle East too – including complete customs clearance, so that the speed of the direct run is not lost at the customs office. On request we handle the delivery door to door from EXW to DDP.

Frequently asked questions: Special Run & Direct Transport

How quickly can a special run start?

Our dispatch team is staffed around the clock and immediately checks vehicle availability. Depending on the region, a sprinter van can often be at the loading ramp within a few hours; same-day delivery is possible depending on distance. A fixed price with a binding time window is available to you within a few hours.

What does a direct transport cost?

The price depends on distance, vehicle size and urgency; as a non-binding guide value, depending on lane and lead time, around €500–4,000 is usual. Since the vehicle runs exclusively for you, the price is above groupage – but transhipment, waiting times and deadline risk are eliminated entirely.

What is a two-driver crew needed for?

Two drivers take turns at the wheel so that the vehicle runs within the EU driving and rest-time rules almost without standing times. On long-haul routes – for example 1,000 km and more with a fixed delivery deadline – a two-driver crew is often the only legal way to keep overnight deliveries reliable.

Can I track the special run live?

Yes. The vehicles are GPS-tracked and you receive status updates from loading to the signed delivery. In addition, the multilingual dispatch team remains your direct contact throughout the trip – for recipient queries or short-notice changes we react immediately and coordinate the solution directly with you.

Which vehicle sizes are available for special runs?

From the sprinter van with 3.5 t permissible gross weight for urgent single pallets through 7.5-t and 12-t vehicles to the 40-t articulated truck for complete loads. We always choose the smallest economical vehicle for your shipment – that keeps the price of the exclusive direct run as low as possible.

Are direct transports also possible to non-EU countries?

Yes, we run direct transports to Türkiye, North Africa and the Middle East among others. We handle the complete customs clearance on export and import, on request door to door from EXW to DDP – so the speed advantage of the direct run is retained across the border too.

What should I bear in mind for a special run?

Tell us the latest delivery time – Speed Logistics calculates backwards and names the necessary loading date – as well as collection location, destination and packing pieces. The vehicle size is chosen to suit the shipment so that the price of the exclusive trip stays as low as possible. Short-notice changes such as a new unloading point during the trip dispatch implements directly with the driver.

Why is a special run particularly suitable for sensitive goods?

Because the vehicle runs without a hub, transhipment and co-loading directly to the recipient, additional handling steps and the associated damage risk are eliminated. The exclusive load space at the same time means that no third-party goods travel along – an advantage for sensitive, high-value and confidential shipments.
