Transports to Uzbekistan are among the more demanding overland lanes: around 5,000 kilometres, several border crossings and a customs clearance that must be cleanly prepared. Speed Logistics organises truck transports from Germany to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara door-to-door – including export documents, transit procedures and import handling in Uzbekistan. The transit time is around 3–5 weeks depending on the border situation and Caspian ferry slot.
Two routes are available for the main leg: the Middle Corridor via Türkiye, the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea, and the Northern route via Russia and Kazakhstan. Which route comes into question depends, besides transit time and cost, above all on the sanctions situation – more on that below. In both cases we run as direct traffic without transhipment of the goods, from a van for urgent parts to a 40-tonne articulated truck for full loads.
Doubly landlocked: why routing is everything here
Uzbekistan is one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world – so every shipment has to cross at least two further states before it reaches the destination. On the Northern route these are Russia and Kazakhstan; on the Middle Corridor, Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan plus a ferry passage across the Caspian Sea from Alat to Aktau or Kuryk. The ferry slots are limited and weather-dependent, which is why we plan buffers and secure the booking early. We use the same core routing for Kazakhstan; shipments to Samarkand and Bukhara even lie on the way to Tashkent.
Customs clearance and documents
We prepare the complete documentation: electronic export declaration in Germany, commercial invoice and packing list, CMR consignment note and – depending on the route – transit procedures such as the common transit procedure (T1) on the EU section and the TIR carnet for the non-EU countries. The TIR system makes it possible to move sealed loading units under an internationally recognised guarantee across several borders without posting a new bond at each border – a real time gain on this long haul. For the import into Uzbekistan we coordinate tariff classification, proofs of origin and any required certificates in advance with you and the consignee. This avoids standstills at the borders, which can quickly cost several days on this lane.
Sanctions situation: routing via Russia and Iran
For transits via Russia or Iran, the EU sanctions regimes apply. Certain categories of goods – in particular dual-use goods, sanctioned technologies and listed consignees – may not be transported there, or only with restrictions. Speed Logistics checks every Uzbekistan shipment before order acceptance for sanctions compliance and selects the permissible routing; where necessary, we switch to the Middle Corridor via Türkiye and the Caucasus. Only permissible goods are moved in permissible procedures. What has changed most recently in this environment we summarise in the guide Non-EU freight forwarding 2026.
Scope of services for Uzbekistan transports
- Full and part loads by curtain-sider articulated truck to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and other destinations
- Door-to-door service from EXW to DDP including pick-up anywhere in Germany
- Project shipments for mechanical engineering, plant and the textile industry with packaging and load-securing advice
- Premium handling for sensitive and high-value goods over the entire distance
Packaging, load securing and process
Around 5,000 kilometres overland, changing road conditions and a ferry passage across the Caspian Sea call for more than standard packaging: machinery and plant components should be export-packed, corrosion-protected and secured on transport-secure supports. We advise you before shipping on packaging and marking, check the load securing during loading and arrange transport insurance to the full value of the goods on request. For the enquiry, tell us the type of goods, dimensions, weight and pick-up and delivery address; within a few hours you receive a fixed-price quote including a routing recommendation and customs services; which factors drive the price is explained by our cost guide. After approval we collect the goods anywhere in Germany and start the main leg. During the transport your personal 24/7 dispatch team keeps you informed of border crossings and the expected delivery date – up to proof of receipt in Uzbekistan. We also set up regular traffic, such as monthly consolidated transports for project sites in Tashkent, with fixed departures.
Direct transport or consolidated transport – and what the season adds
At around 5,000 kilometres and several borders, the direct transport without transhipment brings the greatest advantage in time and security: the goods remain continuously on the same vehicle, TIR-sealed, without transhipment risk. For smaller quantities without a fixed delivery day we instead consolidate transports that spread the high fixed costs of the long haul over several shipments – more economical, but less flexible on the date. Seasonally, the Caspian ferry is the determining factor: in winter, storms can suspend the Alat–Aktau passage for days, and in summer high demand causes slot bottlenecks. We build this reality into the scheduling and communicate dependable time windows instead of wishful dates.
Return traffic and regular project logistics
For industrial projects with ongoing material needs – for example in the plant, textile-machinery or mining sector – we set up fixed departures and, where sensible, combined pre- and on-carriage with Kazakhstan. This creates a plannable cadence with consistent customs processes and fixed contacts on a difficult lane. We examine return loads within what is feasible; they are rarer on this route than in the EU, but where available they improve the overall costing.
