Machinery and plant engineering logistics – machine transport up to 200 t

Machine tools and plant modules are carried by Speed Logistics as a direct transport from a single unit to heavy cargo up to 200 t – with form-fit securing to the manufacturer's specification, complete permit management and coordination of crane unloading directly onto the foundation.

Machine tools, plant modules and lifting equipment pose special challenges for transport: high unit weights, sensitive guideways and controls, often oversize – and an installation date that is fixed. For machinery and plant engineers, Speed Logistics organises machine transports from a single unit to heavy cargo on a low-loader with up to 200 t, as a direct transport without transhipment.

You receive a fixed-price quote within a few hours; our dispatch team accompanies the transport around the clock and keeps you updated on every stretch via live GPS tracking – from the factory gate to the foundation edge at the customer.

Services for machinery and plant engineering

  • Machine tools, presses and machining centres on a low-loader or semi-low-loader
  • Plant modules and structural-steel components with excess width, height or length
  • Machine transport with crane unloading: coordination of a mobile crane or works crane at the destination
  • Urgent replacement units and assemblies by express sprinter in the event of plant downtime

Heavy cargo with permit and BF3/BF4 escort

When your machine exceeds the regular dimensions or weights, we take over the complete permit management: permits under § 29/§ 46 StVO for each affected federal state, route checks against bridge loads, clearance heights and roundabouts, as well as BF3/BF4 escort vehicles or police escort where the conditions require it. We factor permit lead times into the schedule from the outset – so that your installation date stays realistic.

Load securing and premium handling for precision technology

A CNC machine tolerates no impacts. We secure machines to the manufacturer's specification with a form fit using lashing chains, wedges and anti-slip mats, protect bare guideways from the weather and agree lashing points and centre-of-gravity position before loading. Where required, we coordinate loading and crane unloading at the installation site with your installation team, so that the machine can be set directly onto the foundation.

Plant export with customs clearance to non-EU countries

For plant deliveries to Türkiye, North Africa, the Middle East, West Africa or Central Asia, we take over the complete customs clearance: export declaration, T1/T2 transit procedures and, for temporary deployments – such as demonstration machines or trade-fair exhibits – the ATA Carnet. From EXW to DDP you choose the delivery term that fits your contract; we take care of the paperwork, border clearance and on-time delivery.

How your machine transport works

You send us the dimensions, weight, centre-of-gravity or lashing details as well as the loading and unloading situation. We select the equipment and route, calculate the fixed price including loading and CMR insurance – additional cover for high goods values on request – and accompany the transport through to the documented proof of delivery.

Experience that keeps installation dates

Machine transports rarely fail because of the vehicle – but because of details: missing lashing-point details, underestimated permit lead times, an unloading point without sufficient crane capacity. Our dispatch team queries these points in a structured way before the order and clarifies them with the sender, consignee and crane partner before the trailer rolls. This spares you expensive surprises on loading day. For sanctions-relevant destination countries such as Russia or Belarus, we review the permissibility of goods and procedures before acceptance and clarify export-control questions together with your team.

For series machine builders we set up recurring lanes at fixed terms – for example monthly deliveries to dealers or end customers across Europe. Our multilingual 24/7 dispatch team (German, English, Russian, Turkish) also accompanies night and weekend transports, as are common with inner-city heavy-transport requirements – one point of contact, one fixed price, one documented process.

Frequently asked questions: Machinery & Plant Engineering

Up to what weight does Speed Logistics transport machines?

We organise machine transports from a compact unit in a sprinter van to heavy cargo on a low-loader with up to 200 t unit weight. For oversize we use semi-low-loaders, extendable trailers and drop-deck beds – dispatch selects the right equipment based on your dimensional and weight details.

How long does the permit for a heavy transport take?

That depends on the route, the oversize and the federal states involved – from a few days on standard routes to several weeks for abnormal and heavy transports with police escort. We apply for the permits under § 29/§ 46 StVO early and give you a realistic date before you commit to your customer.

Does Speed Logistics also organise crane unloading at the installation site?

Yes. We coordinate a mobile crane or works crane at the destination, agree lashing points, centre-of-gravity position and lifting times with your installation team and phase the delivery so that the machine can be set directly from the trailer onto the foundation – without expensive idle time for crane and fitters.

How is a CNC machine secured during transport?

To the manufacturer's specification: form-fit securing with lashing chains, wedges and anti-slip mats, weather protection for bare guideways and controls, and a low-impact route choice. Before loading we clarify lashing points and centre of gravity. The direct transport without transhipment avoids additional handling risks at transhipment points. On request we document loading and securing photographically for your records.

What must be observed when exporting machines to non-EU countries?

In addition to the transport, an export declaration, transit procedure (T1/T2) and import processing in the destination country are needed. Speed Logistics handles the complete customs clearance for lanes such as Türkiye, North Africa, the Middle East or Central Asia. For temporary movements – such as demonstration machines – we use the ATA Carnet for duty-free re-import.

How quickly does a replacement unit arrive in the event of plant downtime?

In the event of a production stoppage we dispatch express direct transports usually within a few hours: a driver takes over the unit directly from the manufacturer and drives without a stop to your plant – Europe-wide, including at night and at the weekend. Via GPS tracking you can see to the minute when the part will arrive.

Where do machine transports usually fail – and how does Speed Logistics prevent it?

Rarely because of the vehicle, usually because of details: missing lashing-point details, underestimated permit lead times and an unloading point without sufficient crane capacity. Our dispatch team queries these points in a structured way before the order and clarifies them with the sender, consignee and crane partner before the trailer rolls – that spares you expensive surprises on loading day.

Why does Speed Logistics factor the permit lead time into the installation date from the outset?

Permits under § 29/§ 46 StVO need lead time per federal state and route, in some cases several weeks for large-volume packages. Anyone who takes this lead time into account only late risks the installation date. That is why we fix the route, permit requirement and schedule early and phase the delivery realistically around your crane and installation window.
